For years I had been going to this clinic. I had a great doctor but then he left many years ago. I was deployed and when I returned home I began to have a problem with my jaw. I came to BCFM on SEVERAL occasions complaining of my mouth and jaw hurting, needing help to see if I was having an issue of rejection of cadaver bone and not being able to chew solid foods. I saw my Dr. and a PA. All I received was a two minute talk about my sinuses and given a prescription and that was it. I also spoke about not being focused and for that I received some medication but the last time I went into the office for the same complaint about all of the above, it was "let it run its course and you should be fine." I will up your amount of current medication and if that doesn't work, I don't know what else we can do. You may not even need it at all." So, after constantly being in pain, with no better information, no outsourcing or consultation to any other place, I spoke with a friend who referred me to another doctor. This Dr. listened to everything I said and even went out to consult with other facilities to see if something could be done. In two days, I had an MRI which revealed that I had "severe damage in my socket." The Dr. called me an told me that they had researched my condition and sent me to UNC to be looked at by a Dr. from the UK who specializes in jaw issues. The Dr. determined that I need to have surgery. My disc had slipped off of the bone, required flushing from the INFECTION and then given a steroid. This happened in a matter of weeks and in a month, I had surgery. Can you imagine if I continued to go to the BCFM? I called them back and told them that I would not be returning. I was asked if I could have someone call me back and I said sure. To this date: no call, no apology and no professional courtesy to acknowledge, consult or state that they have re-educated medical staff on effectively "listening" to what a patient states is an issue and seeing it to the end.

This is such a good clinic. The staff here is superb. Especially the CMA Henry, and the. MD Dr. Bostleman. My health is in good hands. I look forward to my next visit.
